The Alliance for Democracy in Ondo State has declared a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Olusola Oke, as its candidate for the November 26 governorship election in the state.
Oke defected to the AD after the national leadership of the APC allegedly failed to adopt the recommendation of the Electoral Appeal Committee, which recommended the annulment of the September 3, 2016, primary of the party in Ondo State.
The state Chairman of the AD, Mr. Seriki Adebobola, who made the announcement in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Monday, said Oke had the capacity to win the election.
The AD had earlier submitted the name of one Akin Olowookere to the Independent National Electoral Commission after winning the party’s primary in September, but the party chairman noted that Olowokere had stepped down for Oke as the candidate of the party in the election.
He said with the coming of Oke to the AD, the party would win the forthcoming governorship election, adding that the party stood a better chance to win the governorship poll with the former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party in its camp.
