The Kaduna State Fire Service, on Wednesday, set a-three-minute response time to fire outbreak in the state, down from the global five minutes fire response time.
The Director, State Fire Service, Mr Paul Aboi, told the in Kaduna that timely and effective response was key to saving lives and property during disasters.
Aboi said a minute delay could cause major disaster or colossal loss.
“Seconds count in saving lives and property, so we have trained our personnel to respond swiftly to distress calls.
“Though, there are challenges ranging from bad roads, speed breakers and traffic obstruction but we will not allow that to deter us.”
He said the Fire Service was doing its best to ensure that it meets a set target with its ongoing enlightenment campaigns.
The director disclosed that 23 fire trucks had been strategically located in the state’s 23 Local Government Areas in order to meet the total response time target.
Aboi called on the public to always cooperate with fire fighters to enable them carry out their duties without any hindrance.
