Anti-malaria drugs valued at millions of naira have arrived in Kano State, as part of the state government’s efforts toward combating malaria.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kabiru Getso, made the disclosure when the government was distributing drugs and other medical products to relevant health facilities in Kano metropolis.
Represented by the Malaria Programme Manager, Dr. Bashir Muhammad, the commissioner noted that about 17 secondary and primary health facilities in the state would benefit from the first consignment of the drugs.
He said that the next consignment, scheduled to arrive soon, would be distributed to the remaining facilities, spread across the 44 Local government areas of the state.
He expressed optimism that with the way the issues were being handled, coupled with the commitment of the government, the malaria scourge would soon be a thing of the past.
Getso urged beneficiary hospitals to judiciously use the drugs.
