APC NWC Tampered With Ogun Primary Results – APC Solidarity Forum

The Ogun State APC Solidarity Forum has blamed the crisis rocking the party in Ogun State on the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and the “Lagos cabal”.

The group accused the APC National Working Committee of tampering with the results of the primaries conducted for senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly slots.

The group, believed to be sympathetic to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, alleged that despite that the primaries were conducted on Sunday, October 7, 2018, and aired live on NTA, Channels IV and OGTV, Oshiomhole and the “Lagos cabal” allegedly tampered with the results.

The group stated this in a statement on Thursday, titled, “Ogun State Legislative Primaries: Silence! Oshiomhole and the ‘Lagos cabal’ at work”.

The group claimed that, for instance, though Rotimi Rahmon won the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency House of Representatives ticket, his name was allegedly replaced with that of Jimoh Ojugbele, “who did not take part in the primaries for the House of Representatives but rather contested the Senate and was defeated during the Ogun West Senatorial District primary.”

The same scenario, the group alleged, played out in Abeokuta/Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, where the winner, Adeleke Adewolu, was allegedly replaced with Olumide Osoba, “the son of Chief Olusegun Osoba, who came a distant second.”

They said it was the same thing in Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, where the winner, Suraju Adekunbi, was allegedly replaced with Kayode Oladele, “who came second,” as well as in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency where Adeleke Adewolu won but was allegedly replaced by Ibrahim Isiaka, who came second.

The group alleged that “all these substitutions were made unilaterally without recourse to the party in Ogun State.”

“We ask Nigerians to judge for themselves. What do Oshiomhole and the ‘Lagos Cabal’ really want?” the group queried.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, had on Wednesday described Amosun as a bad loser, asking him to accept the outcome of the primaries.

He alleged that Amosun was embittered because his attempt to foist a candidate on the people, using undemocratic means, failed. The party’s spokesperson described the case in Ogun State as a straightforward one.

Issa-Onilu had said, “If we speak to the merit of this case, the Ogun State governor –the whole world saw it, the visuals were everywhere where he gathered some aspirants, stakeholders and said clearly, there won’t be primaries and right there he pointed at whom the next governor would be. He pointed to another person, ‘this one, you are the next senator, House of Reps etc and himself the next senatorial candidate and he dished out these positions out there.”
