Bill Maher has a radical suggestion for Republicans, which is to take a punt on Democrat Hillary Clinton this November.
The “Real Time with Bill Maher” host broke down on Friday night why he thinks GOP supporters should really do themselves a favor and switch sides.
“You’re going to lose this election, you’re going to lose with either Trump or Cruz, so just punt,” he said. “Help put Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office and you’ll have her right where you want her. I know it sounds crazy, but the only way you can win this November is by losing.”
Maher said many Republicans were already flirting with the idea of voting Democrat, rather than for the GOP front-runner Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). “We all know you’re not happy with your choices right now, but it’s getting near closing time and you’re gonna have to go home with one of them,” he said.
Describing Cruz as “a man with all the appeal of Jared from Subway, minus the inspiring weight loss story” and Trump as the “zombie candidate,” he revealed there was actually a third option for disillusioned Republicans.
And it would be perfect, he said, given that the GOP didn’t actually want to — and probably couldn’t — govern due to the mess the party is currently in, and would mean they could probably scupper every bill that Clinton tries to pass.
“It’s (the GOP) like one of those houses where an old lady lived with 100 cats who peed everywhere. That is your party today — a filthy, pee-stained house full of dead cats,” he said.
“Do you really want to spend four years defending every single thing President Trump tweets in the middle of the night, defending every stupid thing he does, when he invades Poland or puts Hulk Hogan on the nickel or retweets our nuclear codes?” Maher asked.
Then take a punt and vote for Hillary, he said, lightheartedly reminding Republicans that they “can’t impeach her” if they don’t elect her.
