Segun Sowunmi, a former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, has revealed his intention to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sowunmi urged his colleague and former Atiku campaign spokesman, Daniel Bwala, to reserve a space for him in the APC, indicating that he may soon leave the PDP.
Bwala had previously stated his support for President Bola Tinubu after a visit to the Presidential Villa. Sowunmi justified his proposed defection by citing the PDP’s refusal to implement necessary reforms within the party.
During a discussion on Twitter, Sowunmi questioned whether he should continue criticizing Tinubu and fighting against him when he had already been doing so for a long time.
He also pointed out that previous PDP presidents, such as Jonathan, have distanced themselves from the party, while he remains loyal despite the lack of support for party reform. Sowunmi concluded his statement by requesting that Bwala keep a spot for him in the APC as he plans to join the party.
