Americans have made their choice already. Donald Trump would take his oath of office as the 45th president of the United States of America in front of thousands of Americans outside the US Capitol building in Washington DC later today, and million other people watching from across the globe via the internet or television. Donald Trump no doubt fought hard in the November elections to defeat the more experienced Hillary Clinton of the Democratic Party haven rode on the mantra of “Making America Great Again”.
Trump’s win brings to an end eight years of Barack Obama’s Democratic Party rule of the White House. Political experts have expressed that a Donald Trump Presidency could lead to the undoing of many of President Barack Obama’s policies, one of which is the Affordable Care Act, a health care law signed by President Obama in 2010. Trump repeatedly criticized the measure during his campaign. He promised supporters he would cancel it if he made it to the white House.
Speaking at the inaugural concert on Thursday evening, the President-elect said that he would “work hard” to “bring our jobs back” and turn the country around. He told the crowd outside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC: “We’re going to bring our jobs back. We’re not going to let other countries take our jobs any longer. “We’re going to do something to our country that hasn’t been done for many, many decades. It’s going to change, I promise you. “We are going to make America great again – and I’ll add ‘greater than ever before’.”
Meanwhile, hundreds of anti-Trump and pro-Trump rallies have been planned in Washington to welcome Donald Trump’s presidency. Some group of liberal activists annoyed by comments by Trump about women, illegal immigrants and Muslims have planned protests throughout central Washington. Supporters of Trump as well on one hand, who has never before held elected office, were also expected to pack the streets to applaud the man they see as bringing a fresh approach to politics and igniting economic growth.
It is now left for the security operatives to ensure that no violence or some form of breaking the law is permitted from the protesters.
