Kano Pillars have said they are out to get the best coach in the country to replace coach Mohammed Babaganaru, who dumped the club recently.
Pillars came seventh in the Premier League under Babaganaru in the just-concluded season.
Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba, Enugu Rangers coach, Imama Amapakabo, and Shooting Stars coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, are some of the names shortlisted by the club for the job.
Spokesman for the club, Idris Malikawa, who confirmed the shortlist, says Amapakabo tops the list to succeed Babaganaru.
“The management was really not pleased with Pillars’ performance in the just-concluded season and the season before,” he said.
“The chairman drew the list himself because we are out to get the best coach. Pillars want to get back to their rightful position next season and only the best coach can lead us to the goal.
“Some clubs will be holding tightly to their coaches while others will release theirs. This is the time to see if we can convince the coach to join us.”
He added, “The chairman wants Imama because he is one of the young coaches in the country and he is capable of turning around the fortunes of Pillars.”
