Super Falcons’ captain, Onone Ebi has defended the Super Eagles following the team’s shaky start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Eagles failed to record a win against minnows Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their opening two games.
Jose Peseiro’s side laboured to a 1-1 draw against Likuena of Lesotho in their first game.
The West Africans played a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in their next game.
The players came under heavy criticisms for their insipid display.
Ebi has however jumped to the Super Eagles’ defence.
“It’s really sad to know that we have the best players in the world, but it is difficult to win games convincingly these days. It is really sad,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
“We need that full support and enough of all this calling out players, insulting, and discouraging them after a bad game.
“Players go through a lot after all this, please lovers of football we can do better to help each other.”
