Eric Bailly is somewhat of a misfit in the Manchester United ranks this season. It would appear Jose Mourinho sees life with the United defence without him. While nothing is set-in-stone yet, I wouldn’t bet against United selling Bailly in the upcoming transfer window.
Arsenal is a team on the rise. They are looking to return to their former super-club status, something they lost since theĀ Invincibles era. So with all this in mind, it makes sense for Arsenal to pursue a move for Eric Bailly.
But if they do manage to pull off a deal, then it will an encouraging sign. Here are three reasons why Arsenal should pursue a move for Eric Bailly.
#1 The Jose Mourinho curse
Obviously, it had to get a feature on this list. In case you didn’t know, whenever Jose Mourinho sells a player, there’s a high chance they will go on to become big stars. I mean, just look at the two recent PFA players of the year, Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, they were both sold by Mourinho.
While Eric Bailly isn’t up there with those in terms of talent, he does have the potential to be a solid player for any team. I mean, he’s not even been bad for United, it’s just another questionable decision by Mourinho to leave him out of the starting eleven each week.
The Ivorian international will have a point to prove should he be sold by Mourinho. He will look to seek vengeance, and there’s no better place to do that than at Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho seemingly hates Arsenal, and Arsenal hates Jose Mourinho. It’s a recipe for disaster should you be a United fan, but as an Arsenal fan, you should be licking your lips in anticipation.
#2 Lets face it, the defence needs improving
Arsenal has been in good form this season. Although they’ve struggled to pick up wins in recent weeks, their unbeaten record speaks volumes. However, they do need to strengthen in one particular position, and that’s the defence.
Too often this season, The Gunners have struggled to keep the ball out of their net. There has been a heavy reliance on Bernd Leno, particularly in their most recent match with Wolves. The German international is good, but as the Arsenal faithful have noted, it shouldn’t always be his responsibility.
Any Manchester United fan will tell you, Eric Bailly will get into all kinds of situations in order to keep the ball from his net.
#3 He will only improve the morale at Arsenal
A lot of the positives surrounding Arsenal this season stems from their immense morale. If you follow The Gunners on social media, then you will see how jokey they can be in training. The usual culprits are Matteo Guendouzi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
These are two stars who are enjoying good seasons so far, and it’s no coincidence. If you’re shining in training, then that’s only going to transcend onto the pitch. A lot of Arsenal’s goals this season have come from incredible teamwork and passing movements, so their work in training has certainly paid off.
