The Nigerian military has announced that they have killed 43 terrorists and arrested 76 others in the South-South geopolitical zone of the country.
The troops also rescued 27 kidnapped hostages and arrested 29 perpetrators of oil theft. In addition, the military recovered 81 assorted weapons and 2,150 assorted ammunition.
The recovered arms include pistols, rifles, shotguns, and various types of ammunition. Other items recovered include vehicles, motorcycles, mobile phones, radios, and cash.
Troops also discovered and destroyed dugout pits, boats, storage tanks, barges, cooking ovens, pump machines, and illegal refining sites. They recovered stolen crude oil, illegally refined AGO, and DPK.
The military spokesman, Major General Edward Buba, stated that the armed forces will always be mindful of the threat posed by kidnapping gangs and terrorists and will continuously review internal processes to deal with any identified threats.
The South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria is known for its oil-rich Niger Delta region, which has been plagued by violence and criminal activities, including oil theft and kidnapping.
The Nigerian military has been conducting operations in the region to combat these activities and restore security.
