The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to elect a candidate for the February 2023 bye-election for Ebonyi South Senatorial District. This comes as Senator Dave Umahi resigned from the Senate after being appointed Minister of Works by Bola Tinubu.
The APC Committee has already screened Professor Anthony Okorie Ani for the primary election. Out of the two aspirants, only Ani completed his form, returned it to the party, and attended the screening. The other aspirant, Princess Ann Agom-Eze, neither returned her form nor showed up for the screening.
This information was provided by Smart Iheazor, Chairman of the screening/special congress committee for the election. Ani has been cleared to run for the seat of Ebonyi South Senatorial District, while Agom-Eze did not meet the requirements. The election is significant as it will determine who will represent the APC in the bye-election, filling the vacant seat left by Umahi’s resignation.
