The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that it will take legal action against him if he fails to investigate the alleged payment of N585,189,500.00 into a private account by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
Betta has confirmed making the payment, intended for vulnerable people in four states, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos, and Ogun, into a private account, but claims it followed due process. SERAP argues that this action violates federal financial regulations.
The group has called on Tinubu to direct the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to investigate the matter promptly.
