Police in Benue State, Nigeria, have successfully repelled an attack by suspected militias on a village in the Logo Local Government Area. The militias stormed Tse Gaagum village in the early hours of Wednesday, ransacking the area and stealing motorcycles and other valuables.
However, villagers were able to make a distress call to the police, who responded promptly and engaged in a hot pursuit of the bandits. During the operation, the police shot dead two of the militias and recovered a stolen motorcycle.
Chief Joseph Har, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, praised the security operatives for their quick action in responding to the distress call. Further information on the incident was sought from the Police Public Relations Officer but was not immediately available.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Benue State, where there have been numerous clashes between herders and farmers, as well as attacks by armed groups.
The police response in this incident demonstrates the commitment of security forces in the region to protect the local population and maintain law and order.
