Tommy Doyle is the grandson of two former Manchester City players, Glyn Pardoe and Mike Doyle
Tommy Doyle will complete a permanent transfer to Wolves from Manchester City for £4.3m.
The midfielder moved to Molineux on loan last summer and the club have now triggered the option to buy him, with the switch to be finalised on 1 July.
BBC Sport understands City have a 50% sell-on clause in the deal and a buy back option.
Doyle, who won the 2023 European Under-21s Championship with England last summer, has signed a four-year deal at Wolves.
The 22-year-old has played 30 times for Gary O'Neil's side, scoring once, in January's FA Cup draw at Brentford.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “We’ve never seen Tommy as a player on loan, and he hasn’t acted like one.
"He’s gradually earned more minutes and become more important, which I think is an ideal first year. What he offers to our midfield is something different to the others.
“If you look at the type of players we like to sign as a football club, they generally haven’t reached their ceiling yet and have loads more to come.
"Tommy is a fraction of the player he will become, with the more he gets used to the league and the greater his understanding gets."
Doyle had been with City since he was eight but only made seven first-team appearances and had loan spells with Hamburg, Cardiff and Sheffield United.
He is ineligible to face his parent club when Wolves travel to Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
