The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forth coming general elections, Atiku Abubakar have made it public that his university situated in Yola, Adamawa State; would be awarding scholarships to five children of the slain soldiers by Boko Haram of the 157 Task Force Battalion situated in Maitile, Borno State. The attack, which represents the latest onslaught of the dreaded terror group against men of the Nigerian Army, claimed the lives of 53 soldiers.
This gesture by Atiku Abubakar is coming barely four months to the nation’s 2019 general elections. The question then is: would Atiku Abubakar have reached out to these slain soldiers had it been he was not contesting in next year’s election? What about similar children of late Nigerian soldiers in the past, wouldn’t it be nice if Atiku reached out to all of them in this show of solidarity and offer them scholarships as well in American University of Nigeria, Yola?
