The governorship candidate of Allied People’s Movement in Ogun State, Abdulkabir Akinlade, has dared the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, to go ahead and report him to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Oshiomhole had threatened to report the preferred governorship candidates of the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, and his counterpart in Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, to INEC.
Akinlade who spoke through his campaign’s Director-General, Sarafa Ishola, urged Oshiomhole to seek the help of the APC’s national legal adviser for the interpretation of their action.
He said, “He (Oshiomhole) should call his national legal adviser to seek the interpretation of our action.
“There is no law that says we cannot endorse a candidate that is not our candidate. We can endorse a candidate that is not our party’s candidate.
“In APM, our state and Nigeria are more important to us than political party. Oshiomhole is the one that is carrying political partisanship to a ridiculous level.
“Nigeria is more important. Ogun State is also more important to us than political parties. Political parties are just platforms to actualise ambitions.
“If we see any good candidate we will endorse him. We have the constitutional right to do that.”
