The Abia State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria has been sealed by officials of the Umuahia Capital Development Authority (UCDA), though no reason has been given for the action.
The PDP has called for the immediate swearing in of Aaron Uzodike as a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, representing Aba North constituency.
The party claims that despite a March 18 legal decision in Uzodike’s favor, the House of Assembly has refused to allow his appointment.
Speaking on behalf of the party, Abraham Amah called the situation “impunity” and noted that the only document needed by the Speaker to induct a member of the Assembly is a Certificate of Return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which has already been awarded to Uzodike.
He went on to ask why the Speaker has so far refused to induct Uzodike.
