The management of Abia State University has requested members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to abandon their plan to go on strike.
ASUU had threatened to strike over 11 months of salary arrears owed to them by the university. The management argues that going on strike would disrupt the academic calendar.
They claim that the university does not owe ASUU members any salaries and has been paying regularly since the current management took charge.
However, ASUU members argue that the management should pay their salary arrears and stop playing the blame game.
