During the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, at least five Nigerian supporters died while watching the AFCON semi-final match between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes and the Super Eagles secured victory in penalty shootouts.
Among those who died were a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, a corps member serving in Adamawa State, a Deputy Bursa
