The Minister of State for Steel Development in Nigeria, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has been praised for his efforts in transforming the country’s metallurgical and steel sectors.
Under Ahmadu’s leadership, the National Steel Raw Materials Exploration Agency (NSRMEA) has been revived and positioned as a hub for investors and researchers in the sector. This has created an environment conducive to the exploration and development of Nigeria’s mineral resources.
Ahmadu’s focus on capacity building and modern exploration techniques has also positioned Nigeria as a centre for research and development in the metallurgical and steel sectors. Collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) have resulted in a groundbreaking $300 million investment in the steel sector.
Ahmadu is working on optimizing revenue from the sector and addressing issues of low-capacity utilization.
