Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti Policemen in Ado Ekiti on Friday brutalised and detained a woman, Mrs. Toyin Adeyeye, her two month-old baby, Heritage and her younger brother, Adeniyi Dada, for allegedly refusing to give bribe at a police checkpoint. It was learnt that about five policemen descended on them and beat them mercilessly before taking them to New Iyin Police Station where the beating continued. The District Head of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Alhaji Muhammadu Lawal-Areda, has died on Friday at the age of 103. A family source confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kankara. The source said he had been buried according to Islamic rites in Kankara after the Juma’at prayers. The funeral was attended by the Emirs of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmunin Kabir, and Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk, among many other traditional rulers.
