The Ekiti State Government on Friday declared a three-day mourning in honour of the late Military Governor of the old Western Region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo. Gov. Ayodele Fayose, who also signed a condolence register opened by the government, announced this in a state-wide broadcast in Ado-Ekiti. The return of President Muhammadu Buhari after a 49-day medical vacation in Britain may not have pleased some members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, as a member of the group reportedly collapsed on hearing the news of his return. According to online reports, a 58-year-old potato seller, Mallam Ibrahim, fainted at the popular Mararraban Jos, a few kilometres to Kawo, Kaduna State when he heard that the President has returned. Justice Gabriel Kolawole struck out the file while delivering a ruling on an application by the plaintiffs seeking an amendment to their prayers contained in the suit. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has declared a seven-day period of mourning in honour of Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, a two time governor of the former Bendel State. Obaseki, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr John Mayaki said the mourning period would begin from March 10. Mr Stephen Ahiaba, Chairman, Kogi Chapter of Cashew Producers Association of Nigeria, on Friday said that about 500,000 tonnes of cashew apples and fruits, worth N50 billion, rot annually in Kogi.
