It is logical to suspend the discussions on ‘#EndSARS and the power of truth’ as promised last week because there is a weightier matter of lessons from the power of strong institutions over strong men in a democracy – in the United States of America. There have been unexpected developments in ‘America, their America’ as the iconic J.P Clark once described the country. Felix Asogwa Why should I, a Nigerian, bother so much about American Presidential Election? The answer is very simple and arose from the concern I have for the widespread unawareness and ignorance of the weighty issues in the American Presidential Election. In the face of undeniable evidence of the harm which Biden Presidency portends, a friend said to me the other day, “Ok let the will of God be done too. Trump can win . Biden can win. Whoever wins let’s take it that way. No further comments on that. I don’t have voting right in the said election. Dr.…

•Says OBJ’s Past Hunting Him Former Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State yesterday chided former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his statement on how he was impeached as Governor in 2005. It would be recalled that Chief Obasanjo, while speaking at the launch of autobiography of former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, had said that Ladoja was impeached because he was not able to reconcile with Chief Lamidi Adedibu and Yekini Adeojo. Reacting, Ladoja described the narrative as a lie, saying the former president was being economical with the truth. Ladoja’s Media aide, Alhaji Bashir Lanre Latinwo noted with dismay that Obasanjo could…
Niran Adedokun niranadedokun@yahoo.com It would be unfair to pretend not to understand where Mojisola Alli-Macaulay was coming from in her intervention that went viral last week. It is unlikely that anyone with a remote sense of decency would approve the level of destruction that visited Lagos and other parts of Nigeria penultimate week in the wake of the #EndSARS protests hijacked by some suspected hoodlums. And when speaking about Lagos, people like Ali-Macaulay have more reasons to be distraught. No one suffered as much personal damage in this carnage as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the de factor political godfather in…
