What is so novel or complicated about the take or Pay provision in the Power Purchase Agreement between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the promoters of the 459MW Azura Gas Fired Electricity generating power plant? Only those who obviously don’t know how the world works can claim to be confused. But then, what about the battery of energy, financial/accounting and marketing experts, some from within the government, who creamed off some five to eight per cent of the project cost as fees? Did they miss the mark or perhaps deceived the government? I find it strange that as I…

While that was on, the Kaduna State Government and the Presidency…

The high-level panel of experts chaired by a former President of Ireland, Mrs. Mary Robinson, submitted its report on Monday. The Independent Review Panel was set up July 2 by the Bureau of Governors of the Bank, following a complaint by the United States, to review the process by which two organs of the Bank – the Ethics Committee of the Board,…

By Tunji Olaopa The title of this piece might, at first glance, appear obvious to many. Yet, it is one of those questions that we take for granted without a second thought. And this would seem to have some sort of backing in experience. After all, anywhere you go in the world, Christianity has the same form and language. And despite the denominational variants that fragments the Christian faith across the world, there is still a sense in which one might be tempted to agree that Christianity is one and hence universal. Many believers will point at the authority of…

After Fernandes had made an impressive debut in a goalless draw at home to Wolves on 1 February, Manchester United stood 14 points adrift of Leicester City, who were third. Fast forward to his decisive role in this victory that sees United qualify for next season’s Champions League by taking that third place, and you can see the extent of his impact. The Portuguese attacker – a mid-season signing from Sporting Lisbon in a deal that could eventually be worth around £68m – has provided the missing link for this Manchester United side. He has built a bridge between midfield…
