I am Abiola OBAYOMI Benjamin, a Writer by Grace, an Author: (Developing Yourself Spiritually), a Blogger (Fridayposts.Com), Director, School of Marriage at Centre for New Dimension Leadership, Abuja and a passionate Nigerian. I believe Nigeria will be great again, but the change we need in Nigeria begins with all of us doing things differently. Collectively, we can make Nigeria work.

The concept of cosmetic leadership is rooted in leadership without vision, without principles and with little or no direction for the organization. Cosmetic leaders are there only for the glory, the fame, the popularity, the power, that leadership positions have to offer them, and do not really have a sense of fulfilling the organization’s mandate or have a sense of vision direction for the organization. Cosmetic leadership looks beautiful on the outside, it is glamorous; it is expensive, but within is emptiness and lack of organizational progress. Cosmetic leaders can hardly point to anything they have done or achieve since…

The pattern of leadership adopted by a leader, has a direct cause and effect relationship upon organizations and their success or failure. As a matter of fact, most organizations success or failure is a direct indication and response to a leader’s pattern of leadership, either positively or negatively. We should never forget the saying that “everything rises and fall on leadership” – so, that means if there is progress in the organization, it is leadership; and if there is failure as well, nobody would be blame for the failure other than leadership. So, that tells us that the success and…

Let us start by simply looking at what the word ‘pattern’ connotes. Pattern talks about a particular way in which something is done or in which something happens. Take for instance, houses are built according to pattern. Cars are made with a pattern in view. Most of the cars that we admire today are built after some of the animals that we know. The airplanes, they are simply built after birds. Almost everything has its pattern from somewhere. There is hardly anything that you see in the world today that is not based on one pattern or the other. Even…

The very first regenerative work of the Holy Spirit in a person is at the point when the word of God is preached and the person is convicted of the word of God, and he or she is convinced to be saved or become born again afterwards. If you read the book of Acts 2:37-39, the Bible says: “Now when they heard this [the words that apostle Peter preached to them under the influence of the Holy Spirit], they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “men and brethren, what shall we…

Many people (not only leaders) want instant gratification in life. A lot of people would opt for taking a $1million dollar cheque right now, rather than wait for a promised $10million dollars cheque one month from now. The underlying assumption for many is: what if tomorrow never come or why not settle for the $1million dollars that one could see right now than wait for an imaginary $10million dollars that may never come? And this is why many would rather want the instant gratification than wait for a bigger or better gratification in the future. Listen to Podcast: What…

One thing every leader must never forget in the course of their leadership is how they would want to be remembered when they are no longer in charge. You see, this aspect of leadership talks about your legacies, which is like a gift you would love to hand down to those who would succeed you, most especially, in terms of your contributions to the growth of the organization and how you have been responsible for the height the organization had attained in the past as a result of your leadership prowess and contributions. For example, the Bible said concerning David…

Most successful organizations have gone through a number of phases and changes in their existence. I have been privileged to see documentaries of some organizations that have existed for more than 100 years and more. What is common to these organizations is embedded in embracing change as times and occasions demand in the continued existence and operations of such organizations. Today, I want to share with us: Paradigm Shift in Contemporary Organizational Leadership and under this title, we want to raise a vital question and the question is: What Posture Should the Leader Assume? Listen to Podcast: Paradigm Shift in…

Pride is subtle! Pride is dangerous! If there is anything that leaders need to watch out for, it is pride. If there is any dangerous position you don’t aspire to be in as a leader, it is that pride position. Pride ruins a leader’s assignment than any other thing you can ever think of. The Bible says in Proverbs 16:18: “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Leaders don’t just fall out of leadership, the substance of fallen away of any leader is rooted in pride. So, based on the foregoing, I want to quickly share with…

It is not usually uncommon that leaders encounter one form of resistance or the other in the course of leadership. But your response to such resistance as a leader would distinguish you, and would determine whether you would arrive at your leadership destiny or not. A resistance talks about anything that opposes a progressive flow of a leader’s success in his or her leadership endeavors. To tell you that resistance is not uncommon in leadership, Paul said something in 1 Corinthians 16:8-9: “But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, 9 because a great door for effective work has…
