I am Abiola OBAYOMI Benjamin, a Writer by Grace, an Author: (Developing Yourself Spiritually), a Blogger (Fridayposts.Com), Director, School of Marriage at Centre for New Dimension Leadership, Abuja and a passionate Nigerian. I believe Nigeria will be great again, but the change we need in Nigeria begins with all of us doing things differently. Collectively, we can make Nigeria work.

By their expressed passions and in some cases, desperations, Nigerians are unanimous that tinkering with the 1999 constitution is not only timely but long overdue. Particularly with Nigeria’s diverse peculiarities, the constitution is largely defective and shallow to guarantee peaceful coexistence, mutual tolerance and accelerated national development. Having operated for over two decades, it is no longer in tune with most of the contemporary realities. There are systemic opportunities for powers and processes abuses because rather than strong institutions, the constitution favours strong individuals. One of the unfortunate fallouts of these fundamentally flawed laws is the recent introduction of the…

Maintaining a culture of excellence in leadership is one of the hallmarks of leadership. When we talk about excellence, it simply means: being the best we can be through the grace and abilities that God has deposited inside of us. It could also mean doing seemingly ordinary things in an extra-ordinary way. Listen to Podcast: Maintaining a Culture of Excellence in Leadership One thing we must understand as leaders is that excellence does not fall on anyone like a ripe pawpaw. Excellence cannot be gotten through mere wishful thinking. When we look at the work of God when He…

In this article, I want to share with us what has been titled: The Thin Line Between Leadership and Discipleship, notice the word ‘thin’ and not a thick line. So, there is a thin line between leadership and discipleship. So, we are going to be looking at a Scripture to justify what we will be sharing with ourselves. But before we look at the text, let me just explain the two major words that are in this title that is the focus of our consideration tonight. The first one is leadership, and the second one is discipleship. Listen to…

There is this popular Latin saying which goes like this: Vox Populi, Vox Dei, meaning: “the voice of the people is the voice of God.” But in this podcast, I want to debunk this assumption in leadership by saying the voice of the people is not always the voice of God. And so, a leader who runs aimlessly after the voice of the people every time without having a system in place that adequately examines whether what the people wanted are legitimate enough or not would run into errors and mistakes all the time and may not finish well. It…

“And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.” Listen to Podcast: Understanding the Basis of Spiritual Maturity and Good Works The phrase ‘spiritual people’ is also the same thing as spiritually immature people. If you read this same verse in the Passion Translation, it revealed it to us in plain language what the apostle Paul was talking about. It says: “Brothers and Sisters, when I was with you, I found it impossible to speak to you as those who are spiritually mature people, for you are…

All over the world, children are given a special day in the year to be celebrated. Of course, celebrating children does not mean it should be restricted to just this particular day, children should be celebrated every day because they are a special gift from the LORD and so, they must be treated as such. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD” (Psalm 127:3a) says the word of God. It would be a great disservice to God if those who are the custodian of children don’t look after them or take care of them the way God would have.…

In this week’s edition of Leaderview, I want to share with us something that has been titled: Costly Leadership Assumptions, and we are just going to be looking at three of them in this episode. Listen to Podcast: Costly Leadership Assumptions #1. To Assume You Don’t Need God to Help You Lead Effectively God is a leader and one of His responsibilities to us is that of leading us. In John 10:3-4, the Bible says: “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when…

The word ‘perspective’ generally describes the way you see something. Because of individuals’ backgrounds and different upbringings, peoples’ perspectives most of the times usually differs. There is a popular saying that I love to quote when it comes to the issue that has to do with perspective. It says: “an amorphous mass of men cannot agree on the same issue.” The reason for this actually, is not far-fetched, it is simply as a result of differences in the way we see and perceive things. Listen to Podcast: How To Maintain The Right Perspective in Leadership For a leader,…

Let me begin this article by sharing with us a Scripture that would form the basis for our discussion today. In Micah 2:13 (GNT), the Bible says: “God will open the way for them and lead them out of exile. They will break out of the city gates and go free. Their king, the LORD Himself, will lead them out.” One of the things that must be at the core of your leadership is the ability to open the way and lead others successfully. As a matter of fact, there is no point leading if no one is following. It…

A pitfall talks about a danger or problem that is hidden or lurking somewhere and that is not immediately obvious. One of the greatest own-goal any leader can score against himself or herself is not to envisage certain dangers or drawbacks that may want to present themselves in the cause of leadership. As a matter of fact, the best way to prevent these dangers or drawbacks is to envisage them and adequately prepare for them, even before they show up. This is why ability to see ahead is one of the hallmarks of a great leader. For example, God led…
