Nigerian Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has expressed concerns for the safety of former minister Olu Agunloye in prison.
Agunloye has been remanded in custody after being charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with fraud. Soyinka has warned that Agunloye, who was a key witness in the murder case of politician Bola Ige, could be killed while in detention.
Soyinka has previously argued that Ige’s murder was linked to a corruption scandal in Nigeria. He has warned that if anything happens to Agunloye while in custody, the implications would be clear.
