I find it strange that some major policy thrusts of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari are usually read out to the media via press conferences each time he travels abroad.
Back home, he remains mute to such issues for reasons I cannot comprehend. I have developed the penchant of reading about him when on a trip abroad than when he is at the seat of power in Abuja. He finds it newsworthy when he spits fire on either Boko Haram or the militants in the Niger Delta blowing up oil and gas pipelines, takes hard stance on how to revamp the economy and most prominently, on how he will deal with corrupt politicians. We need to know what the government plans to do from his numerous foreign trips.
