Rivers United defender Adekunle Adeleke has revealed that the team aimed for a draw against Etoile Filante in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Pride of Rivers played a goalless draw against the Burkinabes at the Stade Municipal Stadium, Yamoussoukro, on Sunday.
Adeleke said the team have started preparations to record victory in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“Not concededing was our aim in the first leg against Etoile Filante in Yamoussoukro,” the former Enyimba defender told Rivers United’s media.
“Preparation have started so that we can finish the work in Port Harcourt which I’m confident about.”
The second leg is billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on the 1st October 2023.
The winner of the encounter will progress to the group stage of the competition.
