Ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg match against Middlesbrough, Arsenal legend Paul Merson has defended Chelsea forward Cole Palmer.
Although Palmer missed good chances in the first leg, Merson believes he is a top player and one bad performance does not mean he can’t perform at the top level.
Merson also warned Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino about the potential consequences if Chelsea were to lose to Middlesbrough, suggesting it could be detrimental to Pochettino’s position.
Merson believes Middlesbrough will try to frustrate Chelsea and that they will be in the game for a long time as Chelsea often struggle to blow teams away.
