After beating Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel, 3-0 in their first leg CAF Champions League fixture on Sunday, Enyimba captain, Chinedu Udoji, has expressed optimism that the team will work hard to defeat their opponents on their home turf on April 19.
A hat-trick from Mfon Udoh gave the Peoples Elephant the victory at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Udoji told our correspondent that the team would not relinquish their lead when the two sides meet.
He said, “The belief had been that North African teams are very difficult to beat and I saw that on Sunday. It was a tough match and I have to confess that we just had to be at our best to get that victory.
“I can’t describe the feeling I am having now because we didn’t expect the score line to be that much and we could even have scored more than that. Nobody gave us a chance against the Tunisians but we were determined to write our names in gold hence, the result.
“Though, we won by three goals, there is still much work to be done before we celebrate and that we must do in the second leg. We will work very hard to make sure that we don’t throw away the lead we have now because we already know that it will be tough on their ground.
“If we can get one or two goals away it will give us added advantage. The ultimate aim is the third Champions League trophy and I believe we are on course to achieve that aim.”
