Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has hit out at Antony for his apparent predictability after Manchester United’s Premier League 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.
Liverpool dominated much of the game at Anfield, taking 34 shots to Man United’s six.
But Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to break the deadlock against the Red Devils as both teams shared a point each.
However, Shearer was not impressed with Antony’s display against Liverpool.
“On the right hand side you’ve got Antony, he would do my nut in playing with him because you know 99.9 per cent of the time he’s coming inside on that left foot,” Shearer said on Match of the Day about Antony.
“Not only do the defenders know, so they can then set themselves. On the odd occasion, if he did go down on the right-hand side, it might make it a little bit more difficult, but for a centre-forward, it doesn’t half make it very difficult when he is doing that.”
Antony has arguably failed to justify his £85 million price tag since he joined Man United from Ajax last year.
The Brazilian has scored just eight goals and registered three assists in 62 appearances for United.
