Chelsea interim boss, Frank Lampard has said Enzo Fernandez can thrive in a more advanced role for the team next season.
The Argentina midfielder became the most expensive footballer in Premier League history when he signed for the Blues from Benfica in a £106million deal in January.
Fernandez excelled in central midfield as Argentina won the 2022 World Cup.
But the 22-year-old was used in a double pivot by Graham Potter and deployed in a midfield three more recently under Lampard.
But Lampard believes Fernandez can excel further up the pitch.
“My personal view with Enzo is that he can probably play in all the midfield roles.
“But seeing him train and play, I get the feeling from him that he has more to offer than as a single No 6.
“He can play as a double No 6 or as a No 8 where he can join into the game more,” Lampard said.
