During a campaign rally in Manassas, Virginia, President Joe Biden was repeatedly interrupted by pro-Palestinian hecklers who shouted slogans such as “Genocide Joe has got to go.” The hecklers disrupted the event at least 10 times, holding up Palestinian flags and banners calling for a ceasefire.
While Biden attempted to address his key election issue of abortion rights, the heckling highlighted another problem area among some Democratic voters who oppose his support for Israel during its military offensive on Gaza.
Despite the disruptions, Biden launched a strong attack on former President Donald Trump’s stance on reproductive freedoms, accusing him of being “hell-bent” on further abortion restrictions.
Biden criticized Trump for his three Supreme Court picks, which contributed to the overturning of the federal right to abortion in 2022.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have consistently raised the abortion issue, as polls show a clear majority of Americans support continued access to safe abortion.
