The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has stated that it has reduced the number of computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide over poor facilities, non-compliance with guidelines, involvement in examination malpractice and others.
The board is to commence registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on the 14th of January, 2022.
Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the board, noted this this yesterday in Lagos when he met the commissioners for education from across the country.
The meeting was to make the commissioners aware on the activities of the board and the preparations for the coming examination.
The number of CBT cenres in Ogun State was reduced from 43 to 21, Abia is from 21 to 14, 17 to 16 in Kogi.
JAMB might consider involving the Ministry of Education in all states in assessing and registering of CBT centres.
The board is taking steps to track O’Level results of candidates from its own end. This will help reduce the situations of posting fake results to get admission.
The Commissioners for Education commended the board for such an approach to curb examination malpractice and also ensure a hitch-free exercise in preparation for the UTME.
