On Saturday evening in Kachia, Kaduna State, two herders were shot dead and 223 cows were rustled by bandits at Haying Dam. The bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, attacked three herders’ camps, first rustling 123 cows from Alhaji Ibrahim Yabari’s camp, then taking 100 cows from another camp. While resisting the theft, two herders were killed by bandits.
Troops stationed at neighbouring Janjala village responded and are currently pursuing the bandits. The Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached for comment. This incident underscores the ongoing issue of banditry and cattle rustling in the region, leading to loss of lives and property.
