Former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has urged caution in handling the ongoing litigation over the Kano State governorship election.
This is even as he alleged that the Court of Appeal CTC judgement in circulation clearly affirmed the victory of the serving Governor.
According to him, ”the Kano matter is a grenade and the pin must be handled with the utmost care.”
Sani made his views known in a post on his social media platform, X, on Tuesday.
The former lawmaker stated that “democracy cannot survive when political interests override moral and constitutional obligations to uphold the cause and the tenets of justice.”
He wrote, “Kano: the Court of Appeal CTC judgement in circulation clearly affirmed the victory of the serving Governor.
“The Kano matter is a grenade and the pin must be handled with the utmost care. Our democracy cannot survive when political interests override our moral and constitutional obligations to uphold the cause and the tenets of justice.”
DAILY POST recalls that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had upheld the decision of the Kano State election petition tribunal, which nullified the victory of Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.
The three-member panel, led by Justice Moore Adumein, declared Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the rightful winner of the 18 March governorship election in the State.
