What does it mean to be double-minded? It means that you are a kind of person that hesitates. You are often caught between two opinions. You are often in a state or in a position, in a circumstance where you are not certain and you are not sure of what to choose!

The Bible makes us to understand in James chapter 1 verse 8 that “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” So, a double-minded person is always unstable. You realize that such a person will be one that will not be given to straight decision making, pursuing a certain direction and going in a certain way at any point in time. And what this leads to is a life that is unstable. If you notice that your life has been unstable for years, has been unstable for a period, the simple reason is you are dealing with double-mindedness.
And what is the treatment for double-mindedness? I want to read a Scripture in James chapter 4 verse 8, and it says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. And purify your hearts, you double minded.” So, if you are double-minded or you are faced with double-mindedness, what is the life treatment for it? What is the treatment for double-mindedness? Purify your heart!
The Bible says to the pure, all things are pure. Purify your hearts! And how do you purify your heart? If your eye be single, your body will be full of light. You need to stay focused, you need to stay believing. What do you believe in? If you believe in the purity of the word of God, your heart will be focused on it and that is how you purify your heart. You purify your heart by keeping your gaze, by keeping your attention, by keeping your mind focused in the place of renewal, the word of God. And once you are able to do that, you will arm yourself with what it takes to treat the issue of double-mindedness. You will not be double-minded anymore, you will not be unstable.
You will want to do something and you are always hesitating, you are always second-guessing, you are always doubting what you want to do. You are not sure whether you should do this or you should do that. You are not sure what direction, your life should follow. You are not sure whether you should follow the crowd, the multitude or you should decide to stand your ground and do what’s right, that is double-mindedness and such a life cannot be stable so for you to have a stable and a prosperous life, you need to deal with the issue of double-mindedness and what is the treatment for it. Purify your heart. This is a time to do it.
Now, we are in the month of October, it’s about two months to the end of the year (2019). So many things you had wanted to do from January to this October that you have not been able to do because of double-mindedness. You are always hesitating and you are always doubting. You are not certain, you are not sure and you have made your life so unstable, you don’t know the direction your life is actually following. It’s there a little, here a little and it shows that your life is not balanced.
For you to have a balanced, stable and prosperous life, purify your hearts!
One of the beautiful things about being born again and being a child of God is that your life has direction, you receive direction. And when you receive direction, it’s a product of the purity of your heart. When your heart becomes pure, your mind becomes settled. It is renewed, your eye becomes single. Then your whole body, your whole life is full of light.
So, are you going through a double-minded activity right now, you are thinking what should I do? Oh! Should I do this or should I do that? Or should I do nothing? It’s time for you to purify your heart. When your heart is purified, you will be able to be stable, your mind will be focused. Because when you talk about double-mindedness, it is about the state of the heart. It talks about the fact that your mind is not settled. And when your mind is not settled, it means that there is so much information rushing into your mind and you are not certain on which part or which side you should stick to. But when you renew your mind by the word of God and purify your heart by the word of God, you will be able to be focused. You will be able to be stable and balanced. And that’s the treatment for double-mindedness.
I believe that a word has dropped in your heart concerning double-mindedness. I don’t know what that issue that you are double-minded about is, I don’t know that area of your life where you are experiencing more of double-mindedness. It’s time for you to purify your heart. When you purify your heart, you will know what to do. You will be decisive. You will be focused. You will become such a person whose eye is single and whose body is full of light.
