Unidentified gunmen attacked the Koro community in Kwara State, Nigeria, on Thursday night, killing the community’s monarch, Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu (rtd), and abducting his wife and two others.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the killing, describing it as reckless, shocking, and abominable, and called on security agencies to track down the perpetrators.
The state police command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation, as well as a search and rescue operation for the abducted victims.
Koro community is a neighbouring town of Ekiti State, where three monarchs have recently been attacked by gunmen, resulting in two deaths and one escape.
