During a visit from the Chairman of RMAFC, Mohammed Bello, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, revealed that legalised mining operators in Nigeria owe the government trillions of naira in unpaid royalties and taxes.
The government has taken action to address this issue by implementing measures to block revenue leakages and recover the owed funds. As part of these efforts, the government is working with consultants and internationally certified auditors to automate the revenue collection processes.
The goal is to improve transparency and efficiency within the mining industry and ensure that all unpaid royalties and taxes are recovered.
The government is fully committed to recovering the owed sums and has made it a top priority to strengthen the financial stability of the industry and the country as a whole.
