The Director-General of Igala-Bassa Alliance, Dr Goodman Akwu, has said the various representatives both at the National Assembly and the state House of Assembly are to blame for the political misfortune of the Eastern flank of Kogi State in the current political dispensation.
He said rather than blaming President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, the lawmakers representing the zone should be held responsible for providing poor representations in the last 16 years.
Akwu, a chieftain of the APC and former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Kogi State, in an interview, described the reports that President Buhari was not being fair to the Igala nation as false and the handiwork of the mischievous elements in the society.
Akwu said it was on record that Buhari appointed some people of Igala extraction to positions, beside retaining many others that were appointed by the previous administrations.
He said, “It’s a wrong notion, belief and perception being spread around that President Buhari hates the Igala-Bassa-speaking people. Mischiefmakers are behind this news. As far as Kogi State is concerned today, the two major key appointments made from the state by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration were given to two of our eggs in the eastern district of the state. Professor Ikani Oseni and Professor Sam Egwu were appointed Minister of State in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity and the Independent National Electoral Commission for Niger State respectfully.
“I still want to remind these ignorant ones that the National Women leader of the APC, Hajia Salamatu Baiwa-Eluma; the state coordinator of the federal youth employment scheme, popularly called the N-power, Alfa Momoh, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Justice Isaiah Idoko; the Executive Director, Nigerian Development Bank, Anthony Okpanachi, and many others in sensitive positions in the present administration are from the east of Kogi State.”
