A supercomputer has predicted the final Premier League table, with Liverpool set to fall short in their title bid and Manchester United tipped to miss out on a Champions League place
A Premier League supercomputer has tipped Manchester City to win a fourth consecutive league title this season, pipping rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
City currently sit fourth in the league, five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand, but have a 55.2 percent chance of going on to lift the title according to BetMGM 's supercomputer. Using statistics from Opta estimating the probability of each team's results for the remainder of the campaign, City are the overwhelming favourites to win the league.
Liverpool are expected to be their closest challengers, with Jurgen Klopp's side given a 27.3 percent chance of winning the league, while Arsenal have a 15.3 percent chance. All three sides are strong favourites to qualify for next season's Champions League, while Aston Villa have a 65.8 percent chance of joining them having made an excellent start under Unai Emery.
Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham, meanwhile, have a 30.5 percent chance of securing Champions League football. Manchester United have only been given a 2.36 percent chance of finding some consistency in the second half of the season and qualifying for Europe's premier cup competition, with both West Ham and Brighton tipped to finish ahead of them.
Chelsea are expected to finish a disappointing tenth under Mauricio Pochettino, while Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town are tipped for relegation. All three clubs were promoted from the Championship last season, but have struggled with the step-up.
The Blades have been given a 97.65 percent chance of going straight back down, with Burnley also facing a major challenge with an 88.53 percent chance of relegation. Luton, meanwhile, have a 54.56 percent chance.
Nottingham Forest have been tipped to avoid the drop under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, along with Everton and Crystal Palace. Leicester and Ipswich are expected to continue their good form and secure automatic promotion from the Championship, with Southampton, Leeds, West Brom and Sunderland tipped to make the play-offs.
In Europe, City have been backed to retain the Champions League having been given a 30 percent chance of winning the tournament. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are expected to be their closest challengers.
Liverpool are given a 45 percent of reaching the Europa League final and 30 percent chance of lifting the trophy, with Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton and West Ham their main rivals. And in what would be a clean sweep for English clubs, Aston Villa have been given a 33.78 percent chance of winning the Europa Conference League.
