The Convener, Reset Lagos Atiku Presidential Campaign, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, has dismissed the statement credited to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, that the northern region does not need a Yoruba or an Ibo president in 2023.
Pearse described the interpretation as a mere political propaganda aimed at nothing but to tarnish the integrity of the former vice president of the country.
The convener of one of the support groups for the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign, who is also one of the leaders of Lagos chapter of PDP, while reacting to the misrepresentation of what Atiku said during his interaction with the Arewa leaders in Kaduna last week, said: “Those who care about the existence, continuity, progress and development of Nigeria should go back and watch the video of Atiku’s response to the question he was asked on what he would do for the North if he becomes president.
“Atiku’s response was completely opposite to what mischief-makers turned it into.
“That propaganda is illogical and bereft of common sense. I describe it as a mere plot to damage the reputation and integrity of the man. Nigerians should not only discard it but also regard those who twisted the comments as enemies of the unity of this great nation.”
“I believe every player in the 2023 general elections has promised that campaigns would be issues-based and not of calumny. It is behoves on every one of them to keep to that promise.”
