Transfer news: Man Utd deal approved, Man City told fee, Chelsea agreement – Express

Express SportArsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will be desperate to add fresh faces this summer after Manchester City clinched their fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday. The Citizens lifted the top-flight trophy after dispatching West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
City’s dominance in recent years has made it virtually impossible for their rivals to get a sniff at Premier League glory, but Arsenal came close this time around after racking up 28 wins and 89 points. The Gunners have been tipped to bring in a new striker and a new midfielder to play alongside Declan Rice as manager Mikel Arteta searches for the missing pieces of the jigsaw.
Liverpool will have a fresh impetus come August as Arne Slot will be in charge after succeeding Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout. And the Dutchman will be looking to build a squad that can compete at the top of the table.
United, meanwhile, are preparing for their first transfer window under the guidance of new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. And the INEOS owner will want his transfer dealings to be wise ones, with the Red Devils signing a whole host of flops if recent years.
Follow the Express Sport live transfer blog below for all the latest updates throughout the day.
Thanks for tuning into another day of transfer news as we continue to approach the window…
Check back at Express Sport tomorrow for more of the same.
    Goodnight!
Ederson is ready to leave Manchester City for a new challenge this summer, according to the Mirror.
Saudi Arabia is said to be a possible destination after seven years at the Etihad Stadium.
City are said to have offered 31-year-old backup Stefan Ortega a new contract.
A bit of – somewhat surprising – manager news now…
Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea by mutual consent after just one year at the club.
Five consecutive wins to finish the Premier League season secured European qualification, but club figures reportedly view his tenure as a failure.
Chelsea are said to be looking for a young, progressive replacement immediately…
Manchester United are exploring a potential deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer, according to Mail.
The Red Devils could move for the £65m-rated star if Everton price them out of a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite.
The report claims United plan to sign two centre-backs this summer, with Jean-Clair Todibo and Tosin Adarabioyo also targets.Man Utd are interested in Marc Guehi.Valencia have agreed a deal to sign Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski on a free transfer this summer, according to AS.
It’s a huge indicator that Newcastle United are set for success in their pursuit of Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Magpies are said to be in talks for the 23-year-old, and a deal could be agreed for between £29m and £34m.
Willy Boly has signed a one-year contract extension at Nottingham Forest until next summer.
The 33-year-old defender made 21 appearances for Forest this eason, helping them to Premier League survival.
“I’m very happy to extend my stay at the club and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next season,” Boly said.
“The support of the fans has been incredible and I can’t wait to continue playing in front of them.”
We are pleased to confirm Willy Boly has signed a new contract with the club u270dufe0f
Marcus Rashford has hit a new low after being omitted from Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional England squad for this summer’s Euro 2024.
Following a dismal season at Manchester United, William Gallas believes Chelsea would be a good place to make a fresh start.
“There will always be quality players who are interested in signing for Chelsea, but we have to ask if Rashford would want to leave Man United,” Gallas told Genting Casino.
“Nobody knows the reason, maybe he has a problem with Erik ten Hag – if he leaves then Rashford could stay. A player like Rashford, we want to see the exciting young player who broke through on fire, running everywhere and scoring beautiful goals.
“He had a lot of commitment then as well, now he is not the same player. Maybe injuries have been a problem and another club for a fresh start could be the right option and Chelsea would provide this for him.”
Manchester United and Liverpool are set to miss out on signing French prodigy Leny Yoro. The 18-year-old has been the target of a £43million transfer bid from Paris Saint-Germain, which his current club Lille have accepted, although Real Madrid are reported to still remain in the running.
Yoro’s reputation has grown steadily over the season, with the player making 44 appearances across all competitions. French outlet Sports Zone have reported that PSG have made the first move, but the teenager would still prefer a move to Madrid.
Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke has hinted that the Gunners are preparing to delve into the transfer market to improve their squad this summer.
“While we are undoubtedly proud of the progress we have made, I want to be clear that no one at the club will stand still. We’re all working behind the scenes to move us forward – always forward – again,” Kroenke explained.
“We have all enjoyed seeing our summer signings flourish into being Arsenal players and we’re delighted that a number of players have committed to new contracts to keep this squad together, fighting on all fronts. We want to continue to forge that winning mentality that runs so deeply throughout the club.”
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has demanded three summer signings, according to ESPN, and are considering a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney. The Australian is after a striker and a central midfielder among other additions and also has his eye on Chelsea ace Conor Gallagher.
Meanwhile, Postecoglou is also willing to listen to offers for out-of-favour trio Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil.Ivan ToneyAston Villa boss Unai Emery and club chief Monchi have spoken to Barcelona about summer signings and are convinced they can land Ronald Araujo, according to The Mirror.
The Villa duo are said to have enjoyed an amicable chat with the Catalan giants but could be forced to pay as much as £68million to get their hands on the 25-year-old Uruguay centre-back. The Villans are also said to be open to offers for their star defender Diego Carlos as they look to adhere to profitability and sustainability rules.
Birmingham City have confirmed that Tony Mowbray will not return to manage them in League One next season as he continues to battle illness. Mowbray was appointed by the Blues in January, shortly after he was sacked by Sunderland, but was forced to step back from the role after less than a month in charge.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that Mowbray will not be returning to the dugout next season, saying in a statement: “Birmingham City can confirm that Tony Mowbray has informed the club of his decision to stand down as men’s first team manager with immediate effect.
“Mowbray, who temporarily stepped away from his on-site management duties in February before taking a formal medical leave of absence in March, has decided to focus on making a full recovery from his surgery and spending time with his family.”
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has been savaged by Bayern Munich board member Uli Hoeness after reportedly being contacted about the prospect of replacing Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.
When quizzed about Kompany on Monday, Bayern’s former president and vice-chairman Hoeness appeared to be under the impression the 38-year-old was being linked to the club as a player rather than as their manager.
“Vincent Kompany? You journalists pull a new name out of your nose every other day. No thank you, we are very happy with [Matthijs] De Ligt and [Eric] Dier,” he exclaimed.
The likes of Manchester United and Arsenal will be able to prise Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy away from the Bundesliga for just £15million this summer due to a release clause in his contract, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The 28-year-old bagged 14 goals in the first eight Bundesliga matches of the campaign before ending the season with 28 league goals. But his Premier League suitors will face competition from Borussia Dortmund, who have made the player their priority signing, according to Sky Germany.Serhou GuirassyChelsea have a verbal agreement in place with Romelu Lukaku after telling the striker he will be sold this summer, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs. The 31-year-old spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Roma, where he bagged 21 goals in all competitions.

There is no release clause in Lukaku’s contract, but the Blues will demand £38million for the Belgium international. There is interest from Saudi Arabia, while Napoli have also been linked with the ace.
Manchester City will need to pay £60million in exchange for Wolves winger Pedro Neto, according to TEAMtalk. The Citizens are prepared to take a chance on the 24-year-old, despite the fact he endured an injury-hit campaign during the 2023/24 season.
Neto, who contributed two goals and nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances, will be a man in demand this summer, with Newcastle also said to be in the mix for his signature.
Manchester United chiefs and scouts have 100 per cent approved a deal for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. But the Red Devils will face competition for the 22-year-okd’s signature as a whole host of clubs are interesting in prising him away from Selhurst Park.
Olise was a shining light for Palace during the 2023/24 campaign and bagged 10 goals and six assists in 19 Premier League appearances as his side finished 10th in the table.
