Donald Trump has won the Republican presidential nominating caucuses in Nevada and the US Virgin Islands, bringing him closer to becoming the party’s presidential candidate in the upcoming November election.
Trump was the only major candidate competing in Nevada’s caucuses and is set to win the state’s 26 delegates. In the US Virgin Islands caucuses,
Trump won 74% of the votes, securing four more delegates. His last remaining rival in the Republican race, Nikki Haley, only received 26% support.
However, despite being the only major candidate on the Republican primary ballot in the US Virgin Islands, Haley was largely defeated as the majority of Trump supporters voted for the option “with none of these candidates.”
The Supreme Court arguments taking place in Las Vegas on Thursday were described by Trump as a “beautiful sight to watch” after his victory.
Following his wins in Iowa and New Hampshire last month, Trump is projected to be close to winning the Republican nomination.
