In a development shaking global diplomatic tables, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump has reportedly approved a military strike plan against Iran—but has yet to decide whether to give the final green light for execution.
According to CBS and corroborated by other intelligence sources, the plan includes potential strikes on Iran’s fortified uranium enrichment facility in Fordo, a move that analysts say could ignite a multi-front war across the Middle East.
“I may do it, I may not. Nobody knows what I’m going to do,” Trump said cryptically on Truth Social, adding, “Unconditional surrender—that means I’ve had it.”
The comments come days after Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei publicly rejected Trump’s demand for total surrender.
The Brink of Conflict: Troops and Tension in the Gulf
Military assets are already on the move. The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier has joined the USS Carl Vinson in the Gulf, flanked by tankers, F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters, and long-range bombers. Meanwhile, reports indicate heightened U.S. cyber-activity targeting Iranian missile networks.
A Pentagon official testified before the Senate, affirming that “all is ready to execute should the order come down.”
Despite no official request to use UK military bases in Cyprus or Diego Garcia, intelligence suggests the U.S. is maintaining all options on the table.
Iran: Defiant and Surrounded
Ayatollah Khamenei, in a rare national broadcast, mocked Trump as a “has-been warmonger” and warned the U.S. that any military action would invite “irreparable consequences.”
“The Iranian nation will not surrender,” he said. “Any U.S. military intervention will be met with unimaginable cost.”
In response, Iranian state TV accused the West of cyber interference and broadcast a warning about jamming satellite signals following an alleged hack that aired anti-regime messages urging Iranians to “rise up.”
Thousands of Iranians, fearing a full invasion, have begun fleeing Tehran, clogging highways out of the capital.
The Body Count Rises
So far, the conflict has led to devastating human loss:
-
Israel’s preemptive strikes have killed at least 585 Iranians, including 239 civilians, according to U.S.-based Human Rights Activists.
-
Iran’s retaliation has resulted in 24 Israeli civilian deaths.
-
Both nations have launched over 700 combined missile and drone attacks in less than a week.
Netanyahu: “We Control the Skies Over Tehran”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Wednesday that Israel has achieved aerial supremacy over Iran, declaring:
“We are striking nuclear sites, missiles, and regime symbols. Step by step, we are eliminating the threats.”
He also issued a direct message to the Iranian people, suggesting that current military actions are meant to help them win their freedom from authoritarian rule.
The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher
With U.S.–Iran tensions at boiling point, and Israel already engaged in relentless air campaigns, global markets have begun reacting. Oil prices surged 11%, while defense stocks in the U.S. soared.
World leaders are split in response—some calling for restraint, others quietly preparing for escalation.
“This is not just a regional conflict anymore. It’s a powder keg with global implications,” one European diplomat warned.
