Before now, most people in Africa have been worried over the consistent assumed involvement of Western nations, especially United States of America in their national elections. For some people, until a local politician is backed by Western powers, his or victory isn’t guaranteed in elections.
I recall that the present President of Liberia, President George Weah made conceive effort to become the leader of the Liberians, only to be defeated by a woman who was rumored to have links with the Western powers. So, from West Africa to different parts of Africa, it is believed that Western powers (instead of God) put people in power in developing nations. They provide their anointed candidates with hard currency, logistics and any other thing he or she could need for electoral victory.
While it is obvious that these Western nations aren’t charity organizations that merely donate funds; they are strategic power and money players, who only borrow African politicians money and support, with the intention of lobbying such leaders for their own peculiar interests.
Matters now arise when United States of America is now crying out against the possible involvement of Eastern powers in the elections of United States. Just recently, President Trump accused China of involvement in the coming Mid Term Elections.
If the matter of international involvement in local elections is such that President Trump detests, the very thing that people claim brought him into power, it is therefore important that Nigerians watch out for the money bags in our general elections- men and women with questionable sources of income. In reality, if no one can explain how they got their dollars, they might have just gotten them from China too.
I rest my case for now!
