5 Things That Guarantee Victory for Great Leaders in The Field

Let me start by explaining what the field of a leader is to us. The field of a leader talks about his or her respective sphere of operation or leadership. For example, if you are a chief executive officer of a bank, then it means the banking sector is your field. If you are a Christian spiritual leader, then it means the body of Christ is your own field. If you are the president of your country, then your field is your nation. And if you are leader of a leadership consulting firm, then it means your sphere of influence cuts across all sectors. In a nutshell, anywhere a leader is functioning per time is his or her field.

Listen to Podcast: 5 Things That Guarantee Victory for Great Leaders in The Field

But what I want to do in this podcast is to expose you to five timeless truths that would guarantee your Victory in your chosen field as a leader. What I am going to be sharing with you are not common knowledge, they are a product of insights from the word of God and I believe they are going to be of great benefits to you if you would give yourself to meditating and practicing them.

The first thing I will be sharing with you is TENACITY! If you are going to be victorious in your chosen field as a leader, you need to be tenacious. Tenacity talks about: determination to do something; that is, determination to make a difference or a change in that field or organization that you find yourself even though there are opposition and discouragements along the way. Esther was a good example of a tenacious leader in the Scriptures. Despite oppositions against her and her people, she was able to pull through and got the needed results that she desired, even at the time that was dangerous for her to do so.

“All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that any man or woman who goes into the inner court to the king, who has not been called, he has but one law: put all to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden sceptre, that he may live. Yet I myself have not been called to go in to the king these thirty days.”

    Esther 4:11

If you jump to chapter 5. Esther got what she wanted:

“Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace, across from the king’s house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, facing the entrance of the house. 2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favour in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.3 And the king said to her, “What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you—up to half the kingdom!”

    Esther 5:1-3

What does this tell us? Esther got what she wanted because she was tenacious. She was determined to set her people free and she would go the extra mile even in the face of opposition and discouragement to make that happen. Great leaders are tenacious people and I don’t want you to forget that point in a hurry.

The second thing I will be sharing with you that guarantees Victory for great leaders in the field is INTEGRITY! Any leader that would be victorious in the field must make integrity his or her watchword. Samuel was a man of integrity. 1 Samuel 12:1-5, Samuel’s integrity was put to test. The Bible says:

“Now Samuel said to all Israel: “Indeed I have heeded your voice in all that you said to me, and have made a king over you. 2 And now here is the king, walking before you; and I am old and gray-headed, and look, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my childhood to this day. 3 Here I am. Witness against me before the Lord and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I received any bribe with which to blind my eyes? I will restore it to you.” 4 And they said, “You have not cheated us or oppressed us, nor have you taken anything from any man’s hand.” 5 Then he said to them, “The Lord is witness against you, and His anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand.” And they answered, “He is witness.”

There was no single record of wrong the children of Israel could raise against Samuel in his entire career of leading them before they were given a king.

The third thing I will be sharing with you that guarantees Victory for great leaders in the field is AUTHORITY! A leader’s authority guarantees his or her victory in the field. In Matthew 28:18-19a, Jesus said to His disciples: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” and in Luke 10:19, He said to them again: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Did you see that? Your authority as a leader guarantees your victory and that is why, you cannot afford to use your authority for purposes that would negate or hinders your progress as a leader. There are many leaders today who uses their authority for their own selfish gains and ambitions, but this is not right! You must learn to use your authority for purposes that would bring about victory for you and the people that you are leading; this is very important.

The fourth thing I will be sharing with you that guarantees Victory for great leaders in the field is ACCOUNTABILITY! As a leader, you must be accountable by all means. There is nothing that brings disrepute to leadership more than lack of accountability. As a matter of seriousness, A LEADER WHO IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE IS NOT WORTH FOLLOWING. As powerful as Jesus was, He was an accountable leader. The entire John 17 could be said to be Jesus’ accountability story to God the Father. But let me just read a few verses to you there because of time, you can read the entire chapter in your own spare time.

    From verse 6-12, it says:

“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. 7 Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. 8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. 9 “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.”

Did you see that? If Jesus could be accountable to God the Father, then who are we as leaders not to be accountable? This is a very serious matter and I hope you would take it to heart as a leader who wants to succeed in the field.

The fifth and the last thing I will be sharing with you that guarantees Victory for great leaders in the field is HUMILITY! As a leader, humility and not arrogance, guarantees your victory in the field. I mean, the example of Jesus’ humility also came to into consideration here. In Philippians 2:5-11, the Bible says:

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Jesus became victorious in the field as we were told here simply because He humbled Himself. Even though He was God in the flesh, He still humbled Himself so that He could become successful in the assignment that was committed into His hands. This I believe should be the mindset of any leader who wants to be victorious in the field. I believe you got that.

Thank you for the gift of your time, I believe you have learnt something in this episode of Leaderview.
