When the current ruling party in Nigeria, the All Progressive Congress, was campaigning in 2014; they emphasized on the need to fight against corruption: For if Nigerians don’t fight against corruption (kill it); corruption would kill Nigeria. Fast forward events in Nigeria from then to now; it appears that very little (if at all) has been done (perhaps, achieved). The question then is, “Why has the government fight against corruption yielded little or no result in the last 3 and half years?” While meditating on the course of events in Nigeria; from Governance to Religion and to the Political…

This morning, while reading the news on the increment of Wages and Salaries for Police officers across the country; I found a phrase in the statement of the Police while appreciating the President’s decision. See what I found out: “I congratulate you on the success you recorded against criminals taxing people and stopping them from their farms. We are expecting more from you,” the president told the police leadership. Mr Musiliu Smith, Chairman, Police Service Commission, represented by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (rtd), had informed the president that the rank salary structure adjustment would enhance police welfare and morale. The…

Ajaokuta Steel Company was established as a means of harnessing our national steel potentials. Steel mining and development began decades ago in Nigeria under the Shehu Shagari regime. After spending billions of dollars on the project, successive Nigerian government seems to have thrown in the towel over the possibility of the country become a world giant in steel production. While many aspiring Presidential candidates speaks on the low level of development, industrialization and employment in Nigeria, nor of them have mentioned the enormous role the steel company can have on the economy if revamped sincerely and successfully. …

Sometime around October/November 2015, many Nigerians tagged President Muhammadu Buhari as ‘Baba-go-slow’. They gave him that name among other reasons because of his tendency to slow almost everything around him down to his own tempo. Before he became President, Nigerian economy was tending towards recession and the security of the nation was getting out of hand. Assuming office on the mantra of change, most Nigerians expected him to kickoff his administration almost immediately; however, it took him about 6 months to have his government formed.  By the way, many Nigerians now fault his choice of most of those people…

Considering the prevalence of inequality and injustice across the World today; there is a latent tendency in many of us not think of ourselves as leaders. We see everyone else as leaders except ourselves. We remind ourselves of how difficult it has been for us growing up; we recount our failures and mention our rejections. The, we conclude, how on earth cam someone like us ever lead anything or anyone?             While reading through the book of Genesis, I found out what anyone of us could do with his or her leadership call. Remember, our focus for some time now…

One thing is clear among many other facts or figures that people don’t always remember what you said, where you said and what you wore  when you said. The human memory, even though is potent; is built to remember important  things. The human memory functions in a manner that replaces the old with new. Should you therefore desire the old to remain; something extra than normal must be done. Come to think of it, if the memory does not auto erase  irrelevant or has important  things; how come the people of most nations recycle corrupt, deceptive and dictatorial politicians in…

One thing must be clear, a tree will always bear fruit after it’s kind. It is very unusual for you to find an orange fruit on an apple tree. Make the tree good and its fruit would be good was the advice of Jesus Christ. While some people believe that politics is a game, some think it as a business and some see it as a means to an end. It is therefore very unlikely for you to find any politician who lacks motive (right or wrong) in politics. The point is, no one accidentally becomes a politician, people…

In the word of Jesus Christ, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” (John 9:4).  Each time I remember that statement from Jesus and also note how many years He spent in Israel on the work God sent Him to do; I wonder what on earth is happening in Nigeria – our Fatherland! At age 30, He began His public ministry (service) and at 33+, He left the earth for heaven – where He came from. Implying that He only had 3 and half years to…
